1.
Maybe it was the way you looked away, sun scattered flecks in your eyes, maybe it’s the way you ask for nothing, but my company, or maybe it’s just the sadness in me. How I long for pretty light, so I linger, as I seldom do, in the afternoon. Funny how it doesn’t take much, soft afternoon, a splash of sun, to make me trust. Or maybe it’s just the sadness in me.

Salvation I 02:39
Run little girl, hide away, scream your way out, scream and run. Run through the sky, across the water, away from me. Run from me, across the green fields, through the eucalyptus trees and never look back again.
3.
A bird flew into my mouth, it’s stuck in my chest, I want it to come out, but it feels safe and warm.
4.
Secret things, hidden things, blankets of dirt, sheets of midnight air, nothing is forgotten. Will you shine your light, into the abyss? Will you shine your light, where I am wrong? I can hear you scream, water spattering, from my tiny mouth, I gasp for breath, for the first time. Will you shine your light, into the abyss? Will you shine your light, where I am wrong? You disappeared, but not completely, there’s a red stain, upon the earth, that will never wash away. Will you shine your light, into the abyss? Will you shine your light, where I’m wrong?
5.
The entire universe is a song, sung to you by the secret bird, peeping out from behind your eyes. Like a needle, she weaves light, around the orbits of your skull. Like a needle, she weaves light The music's in her flight, you hear where she’s been, oh dreamer, lulled awake, as she returns, to sing of what she’s seen. Like a needle, she weaves light, around the orbits of your skull. Like a needle, she weaves light

Salvation II 04:04
He was hiding in his car, face wet with tears, a letter half screwed up in his hands, his world came tumbling down. Not quite ashes yet, but he mumbles through his trembling lips, that it might as well burn down, salvation’s nowhere to be found. Let it come down, Let it comes down now. ‘What’s the matter with you? Why you sitting in the car like that?’ He shoves the letter in his pocket, shakes his head and forces a smile.
7.
Tears rest so close, in open blue palms, and when it rains down, I see it in your eyes, I see it in your eyes, glistening wet moons, weighed down, swallow the sea, from porcelain finery, cradle the pinnacle, in carefully cupped hands. The waves sing, just for us, the earth echoes the ocean’s breath. Shadows snap, at skeleton wings, your dusty bones crack, the blood does not rise, the corridor is faded. Peeling wallpaper, exhaling walls, dust rises, with the beauty, in the electricity, while lips seal a discarded ring. The waves sing, just for us, the earth echoes the ocean’s breath.
8.
See Me 03:42
Sees my heart smiling, just slightly, just enough. Is it true? Can it be? My eyes see clearly too. I extend like a bridge, I don’t dare collapse, treasure walks timidly over the pools on my back. Falls asleep in my arms dreams plead, fall into me, but won’t have me, won't have me. Angel, see me, through your pain, see a smile in my heart, just slightly, just enough.
9.
No way of speaking, without speaking again and again, stars have fallen down, and I hold them on my back. And ever so slowly, I fall. Beautiful girls, like magic pills, give your hand, not in offering, let your flesh be swallowed. And ever so slowly, you fall. Your voice hums through me, with love and knowing, your wedding veil spreads over us, white light dancing across our faces. And ever so slowly, we fall.
10.
Ghosthands 03:22
Blood runs through, ghost hands, reaching out, they are warm. Pressed against, your chest, blood runs through, through the air. I never touch you. Stroke your cheek, feel your pulse, touch your hair, empty the scars. Turn loose the fear, let love in, let love out. I never touch you.

about

Recorded at my parent's seaside home in Portarlington. I held 'Salvation' close to my chest for 3 years, but now I happily let it go and hope you'll consider it a gift to you.

I'd like to firstly thank my gorgeous daughter, Kendra Simone, for lending her stunning voice (8 years old at the time!) to 'Bird in my Chest'. Thank you also to Bianca Poitevin & Samantha Clifton for contributing so beautifully to this album. I'd also like to dedicate it to my Mum & Dad, who held me once more in the time I needed it most. This album is a product of that time.
